Laredo College continuously accepts applications for part-time (adjunct) instructors to create a pool of candidates for each session/semester. Applications will be reviewed and positions will be filled based on department needs. Applications received for this pool will remain active for one year.

Upon employment, candidate must reside in the state of Texas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Computer Applications Adjunct Instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and ensuring effective teaching and learning in courses such as Computer Applications, Web-Based Applications, Microsoft Excel (introductory through advanced), Keyboarding, and Introduction to Hardware and Software through the Continuing Education Department. This role involves developing and adapting course curricula to meet program outcomes, preparing comprehensive lesson plans and instructional materials, and maintaining accurate records, including attendance and grading. The instructor must create an engaging and supportive learning environment, fostering student participation and motivation through interactive teaching methods, hands-on practice, and real-world applications.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop course/program curriculum to address the particular area of instruction via face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid courses
2. Provide instruction in the following content areas: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, web-based applications such as Google Docs, Googel Sheets, Microsoft 365 Online.
3. Prepare tailored course documentation such as lesson plan, courses syllabi, assignments, quizzes/exams, and Course Verification Forms.
4. Follow daily lesson plans to ensure quality, consistency, and uniformity of instruction and student conduct
5. Adapt to different teaching styles to accommodate to the population and teaching modes such as face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid
6. Keep accurate attendance records and submit required continuing education class documents in a timely manner
7. Provide students with information about the goals and requirements of each course, the nature of the course content, and the methods of evaluation to be employed, including required classroom behavior
8. Measure each student’s progress through the use of written exams or performance assessments essential to mastery of unit objectives. Inform students of course progression and provide supplemental materials and/or instruction when necessary
9. Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care, and appearance of assigned equipment, classroom/lab, and all other teaching materials
10. Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality by following FERPA standards.
11. Work a flexible schedule as determined by instructional activities and course enrollment
12. Participate in training activities as needed by the department
13. Performs other related duties assigned by the Director, Dean, Associate Provost/Strategic & Collaborative Partnerships, Provost/Vice-President of Academic Affairs, or PresidentQualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:- Associate’s Degree in Computer Technology or closely related field.
- Three (3) years of professional work experience in the area of Computer Technology, specifically in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- Three years of teaching/training experience with adult learners.
- Industry-related certifications such as Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Google Workspace Certification(Docs, Sheets, Slides). Other industry-recognized certifications in computer applications, digital literacy, or instructional technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including the ability to teach introductory through advanced Excel.
- Knowledge of web-based application such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and Microsoft 365 Online.
- Familiarity with hardware and software fundamentals, including operating systems, file management and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to teach keyboarding and computer literacy skills to students with varying levels of experience.
- Experience with online teaching platforms (e.g.Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams) and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas.
- Strong instructional design skills to prepare lessons plans, learning activities, and assessments that support student learning outcomes.
- Must be ethical when evaluating student outcomes and able to instruct and maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with the program staff and participants
- Must be knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the academic progress of participants
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish), preferred.
- Must demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, be a self-starter and positive role model
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form, to explain technical concepts in clear, accessible language.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
